    About The Work

This print depicts Elmgreen and Dragset's installation Powerless Structure Figure 101, created for the Trafalgar Square Fourth Plinth project in London. Their commission features a monumental bronze figure of a boy on a rocking horse, installed on a plinth that was originally designed in the 19th century for an equestrian statue of William IV by Sir Charles Barry. The duo's installation comically questions images of war, male aggression, and power embodied by the image of the hero on horseback, a trope dating back to ancient Rome.
